Blake Lawrence was the father of dance music on XM Satellite Radio. He was the founder and Program Director for five years of the then award-winning dance channel BPM.
Originally from Colorado and powered by a fascination for all kinds of music, Blake has programmed major FM stations in New York (WQCD), San Francisco (KKSF), and Houston (KZFX, KLOL). He’s also a satellite radio pioneer, having been part of the original programming team at XM Satellite Radio.
Blake began his time at XM by creating the dance channels BPM and Chrome, and eventually rose to oversee the entire tier of XM’s contemporary hit channels.
Bill Hutchcroft, a.k.a. DJ Beatdaddy, is the Chilltrax Music Director. Bill has followed the twists and turns of chillout music for over twenty years, and began by introducing friends to the tunes. «I even had a disco room in my home back in the day – when the other DJs who played faster stuff would finish, I would come on in the wee hours and play chill.»
Bill is also an alumnus of the late Tower Records, and his DJ sets have been heard on XM Satellite Radio and at major parties in his hometown of San Francisco. He’s a numbers freak and can quote chart positions, labels, and volumes of music trivia.
Chilltrax is part of Electronic Music Radio Group (EMRG), dedicated to supporting and promoting new, emerging electronic music artists. EMRG is a registered 501(c)(3) organization and we depend entirely on listener support to be able to operate. We’re required by law to pay expensive music royalties for every song you hear. The larger our audience, the more we must pay, and our audience continues to grow. Slang “CHILL” expressions
1. chill out — иногда люди становятся очень возбужденными, сердитыми, надутыми и им соответственно нужно, что называется calm down, а на языке улицы это звучит chill out – успокоиться.
• Hey, man, chill out! – послушай, мужик, успокойся!
2. (take a) chill pill – «принять охлаждающую таблетку» — эта фраза синонимична предыдущей: успокоиться
3. Let’s chill! – очередное выражение, которое можно сказать близкому другу. По значению оно равносильно let’s hang out – давай оттянемся, пойдем тусоваться и т.п.
• What are you doing tonight? Let’s chill! – что ты делаешь вечером? давай оттянемся вместе.
4. I’m just chilling – что мы делаем когда у нас нес работы? ничего не делаем, расслабляемся, болтаемся – именно это и означает I’m just chilling, что равносильно I’m relaxing
• What are you doing? – Nothing, just chilling – что ты делаешь? – ничего, просто болтаюсь
5. he is chill – поскольку chill – это холод, первое, что приходит на ум – это, что кому-то холодно, но на самом деле это это означает «он крут», можно еще сказать he is cool – это еще одно сленговое выражение, довольно распространенное.
• John is really chill, he is the best – Джон по-настоящему крут, он- лучший
6. I’m chilly – а вот это наоборот, переводится буквально как I’m cold – мне холодно.
• I’m chilly, will you give me something warm? – мне холодно, ты дашь мне что-нибудь потеплее (одежду)
7. I felt a chill – у меня мороз пробежал по коже. Отчего это бывает? конечно же, от страха.
• The film was so scary, that I felt a chill – фильм был такой страшный, что у меня мороз побежал по коже
8. chill welcome – холодный прием – после такого приема в гости уже не ходят
• Her welcome was so chill that I could hardly stay an hour in the house. – ее прием был таким холодным, что я едва ли мог остаться в доме больше часа
9. to chill smb’s hopes – охладить чьи-то надежды
• his rough behavior chilled my hopes to make friends with him – его грубое поведение охладило мои надежды подружиться с ним.
10. chill somebody to the bone/marrow – сильно испугать, до такой степени, что кровь застыла в жилах:
• The sound of scraping at the window chilled me to the bone. – Царапающий звук у окна до смерти меня напугал.
